Sisters, Brothers and Friends of the IAM,
This Memorial Day weekend, and always, we remember all the members of our armed forces who gave their lives to protect our freedoms.
Over the past few weeks, with the onset of the COVID-19 crisis, we are no doubt experiencing a moment that has challenged everything about our way of life. It reminds us all that true heroes make extraordinary sacrifices in the most difficult of times. As we fight to overcome this global pandemic, our gratitude for those who have paid the ultimate price now and in the past is stronger than ever.
This union has always had a special place in our hearts for the men and women of our armed forces—and especially those we have lost while serving. As a U.S. Navy veteran, I am especially thankful for those who gave their lives while abroad so that we may continue our pursuit of a more perfect union at home.
Please join me in remembering each and every one of these heroes—today and forever.
In solidarity,
Robert Martinez Jr.
IAM International President
