Revised Attendance Policy

Below are a highlight of the changes, generally everything else stays the same as the original policy…

· Addition of up to three (3) non-accountable “Minor Tardies” per year. / Contact Centers will not take part in this as they will continue and expand their attendance FLEX coupon policy that provides for greater flexibility in their work group.

· Elimination of stand- alone day / shift trade suspension for an accountable absence or tardy on a day / shift trade.

· Elimination of mandatory day trade suspension AND point deduction (double penalty) for accountable day / shift trade absences or tardies.

*** Company will still retain some ability to suspend day / shift trades if , in the course of regular application of this policy, the EEs reach a written and / or termination warning level AND, at least one of the points was as a result of an absence / tardy on a day trade. The language now is permissive as opposed to mandatory, so it also gives leadership more flexibility to weigh circumstances..

· Stronger language that management will continue to work together with co-workers to exercise discretion and will consider all mitigating and extenuating factors when administering policy.
· Addition of a Point Incentive Program that allows for employees to “earn” up to one point if they have no accountable absences during June, July, August, November and December of the calendar year. (must be all 5 months)….RES substituted November for March to match their operational high point…

I think many of these changes are for the positive and came from the concerns our coworkers and ourselves have expressed. I know from the day this policy was rolled out the leadership of the IAM was proactive in voicing your concerns with the company and changes were enacted.
